Inner Healing & Intention

Inner Healing & Intention

Over the past few weeks I have felt a strong inner drive to step up in the challenge to simplify & expand. We are in the middle of moving house currently, my online presence is being reconfigured & connections with others are changing.

I’ve had to reflect quite a lot on Men’s wellbeing, healing, vision & how to respond to the rebuke of those who observe & critique. Life changes & words from others, a lot of silence, some criticism & loved ones cause me to think about options for the way forward. Three lifestyle options get presented:

OPTION 1: Fully step into a state of rest, & sit back because everything is done. It’s a belief system which tells you that there is no need to create, & that everything is sorted already, so no human effort will transform the world. That God & fate have it all sorted.

OPTION 2: Slow down, simplify, be fully present, & step forward with intention. Doing this means facing hard stuff, working with focus, receiving healing & transforming the way we do life. It means doing the work; knowing we are here for a reason. This is the kind of drive that creativity & communication thrive in, & where no judgement is needed – raw is encouraged, imperfection & expression are embraced.

Then there is the reactor; that’s the man in me who wants to do OPTION 2, but who feels challenged & conflicted by OPTION 1 being presented. The third option is a striving & toiling –

OPTION 3: Struggle with the idea that those presenting OPTION 1 could be right, in considering that it makes OPTION 2 void – so then respond with confusion to go back to toil & striving. Work ridiculously hard.

But wellbeing isn’t about strength or success; it’s about having the courage to be fully yourself; express, share the essence of your being; to create.

To do this we must face what’s been buried, & to heal what’s been hurt. We must reassess our beliefs, social conditioning & walk away from being driven by the expectations of others.

When a man chooses to walk with purpose, he begins the ultimate journey, expresses love & takes full responsibility. It’s not about self, it’s not about sitting back, & it’s very little to do with consumption.

OPTION 2 is about authenticity — to live a life led with purpose, connection & heart. It’s about moving forward with intention & truth; helping others to rise too.

Last night my wife, some friends & I went to a meeting about the Power of Healing. Matt Brown the founder of ‘She Is Not Your Rehab’ spoke. Matt’s story & mission has inspired countless men to confront their pain rather than project it — to understand that healing is not weakness, but leadership.

Matt’s spoke about his journey that started in a barbershop. The key challenge is to live with accountability, be empathic & caring to others & to walk with the strength care for others, not just relax & chill.

Matt Brown has worked with some incredible people to build online tools & a movement called: Innerboy

It is for men to live with greater awareness, purpose, & heal within — innerboy.nz & innerboy.au — are lighting a way forward. Innerboy is more than an app; it’s a digital space where men can learn to breathe, reflect & build habits that strengthen their wellbeing.

It’s a reminder that nothing happens in isolation. As men we need to check-in, with each other, reflect, breath & make plans for how we want to live; do relationships & take action.

Walking Forward: When men choose to walk with purpose — to heal, to grow, to lead from a place of love — our relationships change; beliefs transform, possibilities to increase improve, communities can go safer, be more content & produce fruit. Relationships can deepen. Futures shift.

So today, take a walk.

Not just to get somewhere, but to remember why you’re walking.

Walk for your peace. Walk for your family, your brothers, your mates. Reflect on the man you are becoming. Take action, but with OPTION 2 in mind:

Pause & Simplify

Be present & move with intention.
This means facing what’s hard, focusing deeply, allowing healing, & reshaping how we live. It’s in this space that creativity & honest communication thrive — where judgment falls away, & authenticity, imperfection, & raw expression are welcomed.

Because when men walk with purpose, the whole world walks a little stronger too.
